The DEP Conclave 2015 was held on 25 Sep, 2015 at the Westin, Southfield in Detroit, USA. The Conclave is a regularized conference conducted by DEP, and this year was focused on Advanced Optimization Technologies for Rapid Product Development.
The event was an overwhelming success, and saw some excellent participation and sessions, with a turnout of around 200 attendees from the industry come together to make the day long event a success. Participants were from over 35 organizations with diverse departments of the automotive value chain. In addition to the wonderful turnout from the big 3 – General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and FCA US LLC, we also enjoyed participation from may other companies like Hitachi, Honda, Hyundai Motors, Magna Exteriors, Mahindra NATC, Toyota and ArcelorMittal, to name a few.
The DEP Conclave 2015 brought together experts and specialists alike together to recognize, and discuss the wide application of DEP’s technology and MeshWorks suite of products, across all CAD and CAE functions in the automotive industry
We had a full house for the keynote address in the morning, and the event started on full gear and on time.
After the welcome address by Radha Krishnan, President, DEP the day was launched by Mr. Rohit Paranjpe, Director, Powertrain Virtual Analysis, FCA US LLC who spoke on Powertrain product development acceleration and weight reduction. This was followed by sessions by Dr. Simon Xu, Engg. Group Manager, General Motors Corp. and Mr. Behrooz Shahidi, Supervisor, Ford Motor Co. The sessions all had interactive Q&A sessions and were greatly appreciated by the audience.
The afternoon had 2 parallel sessions, which showcased technical papers outlining the latest in CAE strategy, methodology, techniques and applications. The close of the sessions was a raffle draw where the lucky winner won an iPad. The MeshWorks zone provided an ideal setting for those who wanted to know more and explore MeshWorks. Industry partners such as Simulia, MSC, LSTC, VR&D (Genesis) and Esteco (ModeFrontier) contributed to the success of the event with their stalls as well. And to wrap the day and unwind was a reception in the evening, which provided a great networking opportunity with industry leaders, colleagues and partners.
It was a special and exciting event and the convenient venue and contributing sessions gave everyone the chance to participate in deeper discussions about the challenges facing the industry and how to overcome them.
The feedback collected was all extremely positive, and the DEP Conclave 2015 has helped bring MeshWorks based solutions for Vehicle Optimization to meet performance targets and minimize weight. The next DEP Conclave is something that the CAD and CAE community is already looking forward to !
