Battery CFD/Multi physics Simulation Engineer

 

 

Conduct battery module and pack system level CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) including battery cell-level thermal analysis. Develop micro/meso/macro scale level battery multi physics model to predict lithium-ion battery life. Provide results and technical consultation to battery and thermal management engineers. Deliver design solutions which are robust and reliable utilizing optimization and statistical methods. Develop battery concepts for early vehicle synthesis. Provide requirements for improvements to advanced simulation and validation techniques. Responsibilities include: Perform Electric Vehicle or Hybrid Electric Vehicle battery module- and pack-level CFD analysis for early design and verification of battery concepts, designs and thermal management systems; Develop Battery Cell Electrochemical model to predict battery life and safety in automotive application. Provide requirements for improvements to advanced simulation activities to include CFD, Thermal, Structural and multi-physics. Participate in benchmarking activities; Conduct cell-level thermal analysis to simulate the transient thermal behavior of a battery cell and to estimate the cell life under a given driving cycle and ambient condition; Conduct radiation heat transfer analysis of heat transfer between high-temperature surfaces; Develop and coordinate battery CFD verification and validation activities. Effectively communicate his/her findings to internal/ external customers using appropriate media. Responsible for specifying requirements, execution and evaluation of designs, analysis, development, testing and control of major engineering projects where creativity and initiative are involved.

 

Requires: Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field + 1 year experience in battery or similar thermal and water management CFD modeling: (Thermal, fluid, electrical and structure coupling with electrochemical reaction) and in CAE model mesh morphing using MeshWork Morpher. Background using CAE/CFD software: ANSYS Workbench, COMSOL Multiphyiscs, Abaqus and SCTetra; Isight, Matlab Optimization Toolbox. Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD Tool: AutoCAD, Solidworks, Unigraphics with knowledge and research experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Heat transfer, Combustion and Thermodynamics.

Senior Product Engineer

 

 

Develop and apply Knowledge Base Engineering based study and part templates in CATIA V5 and NX based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Provides technical and analytical support to Product Development Engineering. Coordinate with other vehicle systems to document SOPs and develop consistent vehicle level relationships. Application work will include component/systems for theme feasibility and for production release. Responsible for engineering, design of Interior and exterior components. Perform engineering design reviews and product development, from conception through production. General design experience ability to design metal stampings, injection molded plastic components, compression molded components. Product design, prototyping and design verification of all the components designed. Work with suppliers to resolve issues related to supplied components and provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members.

 

 

Requires: Masters + 3 years experience that must have resulted in being skilled in CAD software's Unigraphics, CATIA V5, and Analysis software Hypermesh. Expertise in Microsoft Projects and Microsoft Office. Experience must have included leading design projects from beginning to end, including estimating, controls, and resource management with remote locations and working in PDM tools like Team Center and Enovia. Skilled Expert in using Operating Systems UNIX and Windows 2000/XP. Expertise in Plastic and sheet metal component design; Interior/exterior trim design and Tool design. Will accept Bachelors + 5 years experience, or any combination of academic study and experience deemed equivalent.
